How to check a Utah roofing license (and ours)
Before you hire anyone to touch your roof, look them up. Utah licenses contractors through the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL). The lookup is free and public. If the record is not Active, or the name on the license does not match the company on the contract, stop and ask questions.
Look up any contractor
- Open the official DOPL Licensee Lookup: https://secure.utah.gov/llv/search/index.html
- Search by license number if you have it. That is cleaner than a trade name.
- If you only have a company name, search the legal name too. A DBA like “HM Roofing” is not always the name on the license.
- Confirm three things:
- Status is Active
- The license has not expired
- The name on the record matches who is asking you to sign
- If the page errors or the search is unclear, start from DOPL and use “Verify a License,” or call DOPL at (801) 530-6628.
